Our lab is excited to spotlight Mrithula, who presented at the IAPHS 2025 Conference on breast and cervical cancer screening access. Her presentation, “Stakeholder Perspectives on Barriers and Facilitators to Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening among Hispanic Women in Indiana,” emphasized:

This pilot project was part of a broader community assessment to identify barriers and facilitators to breast and cervical cancer screening in Tippecanoe County, IN. Our in-depth interviews with stakeholders showed that insurance, language and health disparities related to race/ethnicity affect access to cancer screening and preventive care services. Different forms of communication such as social media and community boards, and screening programs such as the BCCP can be leveraged to improve awareness and access of breast and cervical cancer screening exams.
